A friend of mine was one of the original 4 guys that created Akron (later changed to Akron/Family because Akron already existed). I saw them play at Tonic a couple times and at Pete's Candy Shop (Grimaldi's birthday party was there) a handful of times as well. I was there the night that this Gira guy, from the Swan's, approached them for his Young God record label. Whatever, time has passed and my friend is no longer in the band but I still enjoy the old stuff and this new release, Set'em Wild, Set'em Free. This is their most 'together' album to date but don't be fooled, it is still very experimental and quite different. Lots of different tones and sounds. Check it out. I'm digging most of it but some of the more bass driven stuff has not grown on me. The poppy, phish-like shiz and the folk is where they are best.
